ESL
English as a Second Language(ESL) Program
New Jersey United Christian Academy provides English as a Second Language teaching through level-based courses as well as English Immersion.
English or ESL courses
Upon the student’s arrival at NJUCA, he/she will be tested to assess his/her English level. Based on the test scores, the student will be placed in an ESL course appropriate to his/her level. The student may also be placed in a general English course if the test scores demonstrate that the student is capable of fulfilling the academic requirements.
General courses
Besides the English or ESL courses, students will participate in general academic courses, such as Math, Science, and Technology. Students will be given the choice of taking the course for general credits or as an ESL course (Note: Teachers will also assess the students ability to complete the requirments). As an ESL course, the student will be given assistance to provide a safe opportunity for the student to be immersed an English only classroom setting.
