Our History
God placed a vision in the hearts of two educators, Donna Torres and Dawn Fossnes in 2002 to open a Christian high school with an emphasis on teen leadership development. They were told it was impossible to accomplish all that was needed to have a school operating by the next fall. They had faith in God and God provided everything that was needed. United Christian Academy opened their doors in September 2003 with 27 students and four full time staff members. The students and the staff during the first year prayed for the future of the school and for a new building. God answered their prayers and this is how God did it.
The US postal service delivered a piece of mail to Dr. Shinn, the founder of New Jersey Christian Academy that was addressed to United Christian Academy. Dr. Shinn had a vision of beginning a Christian high school and Leadership institute on his beautiful 43 acre retreat facility. When he received the mail, he visited our school. He asked us to partner with him and he would build a new school in Cream Ridge at NJCA; not just a school, but a boarding school. The school would be renamed New Jersey United Christian Academy. The school brings together the local community and the International community with a focus on Christian leadership.
