Dr. J.H. Shinn
Chairman of the Board of Directors- NJCA and NJUCA Co-Founder
Dr. J.H. Shinn founded New Jersey Christian Academy in 1988 as a non-profit Christian Retreat Center to foster Christian leadership and growth within the Korean-American community. Well over 30,000 Christian teens and young adults have benefited from the retreat center. Dr. Shinn earned a Doctorate in Religious Education and a Master of Divinity from Faith Theological seminary; a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Law from Yonsei University in Seoul. He was a Professor of Law at Hanyang University. Dr. Shinn’s dream of a Christian High School with a focus on leadership development was realized with the partnership that created New Jersey United Christian Academy in 2004. He is committed to providing the school with the facilities, resources, and direction needed for the future expansion and development of the school.
Mrs. Dawn Fossnes
NJUCA Co-Founder, Principal and Student Life Director
Mrs. Fossnes has been a high school administrator since 1987 and a teacher since 1980. She is a NJ state certified supervisor and teacher, an ACSI certified Principal and secondary Math teacher; earning a Master of Educational Leadership degree from Philadelphia Biblical University degree and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Christian Education from Southeastern University. Mrs. Fossnes co-founded the school in 2003, envisioning a school that trains the Christian leaders of tomorrow. Mrs. Fossnes also founded Camp Melody in 1999, a one week summer camp for underprivileged boys. She has served on the International Board of Tres Dias, an organization to encourage Christian leadership within the church.
Mrs. Donna M Torres
NJUCA Co-Founder, Principal and Financial Officer
Mrs. Torres is an ACSI certified Principal, elementary and secondary teacher and a NJ state certified supervisor and elementary and secondary teacher; earning a Master of Educational Leadership degree from Philadelphia Biblical University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Psychology from Rutgers University. She has been a School Administrator and Teacher since 2001. Mrs. Torres co-founded the school envisioning a school that strives for excellence, knowing that everything is being done for the glory of God. She is also the Office Manager, SWAT advisor, and the Camp Melody Manager. Mrs. Torres has over ten years experience in business administration as a Controller and Accounting Manager.
